Student Expectations Students are expected to practice at home and come to each lesson prepared. The amount of practicing will vary greatly depending on the level of the student, but beginning students should spend a minimum of 20 minutes each day practicing. A small amount of practice on a daily basis will prove far more beneficial than extended practice once a week. Parents of elementary-aged students should regularly assist and supervise practicing. All parents are welcomed to observe lessons so they may better assist the learning process.
Payment My rate is $30 per half hour lesson. Lessons should be payed for a month in advance. This policy is to protect both the students and I (Please let me know if this is not possible and I would be willing to work with you). If there is a cancellation within 24 hours it must be charged as a lesson day because I have already rented the room through McCourt's Music. Please remember this is my main source of income, and not just a hobby (Although I do enjoy every minute of it). I have a method for myself to keep track of lesson payments. If you would like a receipt, please let me know and I can supply one. I accept Venmo, Paypal, Check, Cash, and Zelle. If you plan to use a card I do request that the transaction is done before the lesson begins so we do not interrupt another student's lesson. I add a 3% charge for Paypal or cards to help cover to cost of those services.
Contact If you ever need to get a hold of me, email and text is always the best method. I get emails on my phone throughout the day, and I am able to reply much more easily than through a voicemail. Please feel free to email me anytime throughout the week with questions on either practicing, or new music. I am always open to finding or arranging new music personally for the lesson, but remember that it is not always easy, and not allowed in events such as Solo & Ensemble. You can always use the contact form on my website as well.
Non-weekly lessons I cannot hold lesson spots for "every other week" lessons. My schedule is quite full, and it is difficult to fill the open spot on the opposite weeks of the lessons. If a lesson is not possible every week please let me know, I will be sending out a weekly email of my openings for that week, and we can schedule a lesson then. This is another reason why I need to know cancellations in advance.
Make-up lesson policy • If the instructor cancels the lesson, or if the lesson location is closed for whatever reason, a make-up lesson can be scheduled. If no make-up lesson is scheduled, a credit will be issued. • If the student skips the lesson without notifying the instructor, or the lesson is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, no make-up lesson or credit will be issued. The student may make up the time within one week of the missed lesson if an open time is available. • If the student cancels the lesson with more than 24 hours before the lesson time a make-up lesson can be scheduled. However, if no make-up lesson is scheduled, a credit will be issued.
Thank you - I appreciate everyone’s hard work, and dedication.
