Picture
Shawn Boucké, M.M., B.M.E., is a freelance musician and private studio teacher in the Metro Detroit area. He offers violin, viola, and beginning cello lessons both virtually and in-person at his home. Shawn is one of the most sought-after electric violinists in the state of Michigan and has earned numerous awards for his performance skills, wedding and event reviews, and private teaching.

Shawn Boucké began his musical studies in 1997 within the Walled Lake School District, focusing on the violin. His passion for the instrument flourished immediately, leading him to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp annually. In 2001, he had the honor of being accepted into the Blue Lake International Youth Orchestra, performing across Germany and France.

In 2004, Shawn graduated from Walled Lake Western High School and received the National School Orchestra Award from Valerie Palmerie. He pursued higher education at Central Michigan University with a scholarship from the music school. During his time at CMU, he served as a section leader for both the violin and viola sections. Additionally, he was a member of the Midland Symphony Orchestra for two seasons.

In 2005, Shawn was hired as a counselor at the MASTA (Michigan chapter of the American String Teachers Association) String Camps, igniting his passion for teaching. He was an integral part of the camp for over a decade.

In 2009, Shawn graduated from Central Michigan University (Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Music Education. The following year, he began teaching private lessons at McCourt's Musical Instruments/The Detroit Violin Company in Waterford, MI and also served as a long-term guest orchestra director in the Waterford School District. In 2020, Shawn graduated (Summa Cum Laude) with a Master of Music from Central Michigan University.

As a performing musician, Shawn has participated in hundreds of weddings and events across Michigan and Ohio. He has been recognized with the WeddingWire Couples' Choice award for 9 consecutive years and the Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame.

Starting in the fall of 2021, Shawn assumed the role of orchestra director for Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Beverly Hills, MI. Currently, he dedicates his time to teaching private lessons full-time, catering to students of all ages and abilities. His students include those local to the Metro Detroit area and others from various parts of the country, who receive virtual instruction.

In 2022 Shawn was published in the professional peer-reviewed  American String Teachers Association (ASTA) Journal
